Boys know best! Capturing boys' advice for the design of our USA boy's puberty book!

During 2025, we spent time content testing our new USA boy’s puberty book that is under development, learning from boys ages 9-13 across the country, and from their parents or caregivers, what illustrations and text worked – or didn’t work! – for them in the draft book. We learned that boys loved the stories about body changes and peer pressures that we collected from adolescent boys across the U.S.A. as content for the new book. These stories showcase how uncomfortable and embarrassing some of the body changes can be, while reading them also helped boys to feel more normal in their own feelings about the changes. The boys also asked for more content to be added on the emotional changes that boys experience. Many boys expressed how much they appreciated the page that explained their feelings of sadness, worry, and anger, but wanted to have more examples of how to handle these emotions in their day-to-day lives at school and at home. We are now working to finalize the boy’s puberty book, making final changes to the illustrations and text so that we can launch the book in 2026!
