OUR MODEL

We develop books grounded in the social, cultural and economic context of each country.

To develop each book, we conduct participatory research with girls and boys, capturing the perspectives of young people growing up today, and incorporating their stories alongside factual guidance on the physical and emotional changes of puberty.  We also engage government policymakers as key partners to ensure their support and collective buy-in.

Given the importance of authenticity in pictures and language, and of investing in the local economy, we hire local illustrators, translators, and publishers in each country.  In all the countries with completed books, the Ministries of Education (and Health in select countries) have approved the books for primary schools.
